The listing, GORGEOUS 10K BLACK HILLS GOLD HELENITE RING SZ 6.25 has ended.

This stunning ring features an oval-shaped helenite stone that is about 1 carat in size. Helenite is a man made stone created using the ash from the eruption of Mount St. Helens. It is a lovely shade of green darker than an emerald but not as dark as a green tourmaline. It is set in 10k yellow gold and accented with the classic tricolor leaf design that Black Hills Gold is known for. This is not a dainty ring, weighing 4.8 grams and is a size 6.25. It is stamped CCO and 10k. It would make a lovely addition to your jewelry collection or a nice gift for someone special:)

We have the eruption of Mt St Helen's on May 18, 1980 to thank for this beautiful ash and man made gorgeous gemstone!!!
The force of this eruption blew thirteen hundred feet of earth from the top of the mountain, sending a cloud of ash more than 60,000 feet into the air, leaving a mile wide crater behind.
The Mount St Helen’s eruption was one of the most deadly and costly eruptions recorded to date.

Helenite was discovered accidentally when workers using acetylene torches to salvage destroyed equipment discovered that the rock dust was melting and forming greenish shiny substance. The volcanic rock, with heavy concentrations of silica, aluminum and iron with traces of chromium and copper was melting into a form of obsidian. It did not take long to bring this to a point where the material was being created in a laboratory under sterile conditions and extremely high temperatures. The brilliant green material is then cut and faceted by skilled craftsmen. I LOVE THIS AUCTION.... Thank you! xxoxo
