DESCRIPTION:
Also known as garlic chives and in Chinese as “jiu cai”, this wonderfully versatile vegetable adds interest and mild garlicky flavor to any dish. Try it stir fried with eggs or on its own, it’s also typically used in Chinese dumplings and mixed with shrimp in pan-fried cakes found in many dim sum restaurants. The flat, tender leaves are delicious in salads, spreads and flavored vinegars but the flowers can also be cooked and eaten before they blossom. Perennial in Zones 3-10, they’ll come back every year from the roots. Approx 200 seeds. 110 Days to maturity.

HARVEST:
The tender leaves can be eaten at any stage but are best when they are young. The flower stalks are also edible. Harvest flower stalks before the blossom opens.

Wrap in open ended plastic and store in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Do not wash before storing and remove excess moisture from the leaves if condensation occurs.
