Have you tried a master reset on this device?

"With the nuvi powered off
1. Press and hold the upper left hand corner of the touchscreen with your finger
2. Continue to hold the touchscreen while pressing and releasing the power button on the device
3. The Garmin Logo should display
4. Continue to hold the touchscreen while connecting the device to your computer
5. After 30 seconds the screen should flash white
6. Release the touchscreen
7. A green progress bar should display on the device
8. After the progress bar completes (45-60 seconds) the device should go into Mass Storage mode with the picture of a computer tower on the display of the device.

Note: A master reset will erase all favorites1 and will restore your device to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up your favorites to your computer, you can find instructions to do so here.

Start with the device OFF and unplugged from powerTouch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencilContinue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the device ONRelease the power button when the device powers ONYou will see a new message: "Do you really want to erase all user data?"Remove your finger from the touch screen when this message displaysIf text language is not in English, this is the button on the right

The device will now reset. Follow the on-screen prompts and then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

1Although the master reset will erase all saved favorites, any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device.
