Ok. This is how you test a real pearl. You bite onto it so that you teeth scrape the surface a few times. If it is a pearl when you scrape out with your teeth it will feel gritty. If it isn't real it will fill slick and smooth.

Oh ok I get it we have other names for the same thing My computer does it also Fills in words before I finish typing Often I have to " backspace to get rid of their 'fill in " or if I type real fast often I can avoid it happening MINE IS A 'setting ' I don't know how to turn off,,

No it will not Damage a real pearl but it might damage a fake. Real pearls have layers upon layers of a really hard substance and are not effected by this scraping. But i understand if you don't wanna test them cause if it's not real it would become damaged and thus have less value.

THANK YOU AGAIN -- Your right I don't want to damage it but you have helped me with a couple peral bracelettes / necklaces I have one of each I been wondering if real I Was told they were Also I was told theres fresh and salt water pearls SO R U Sure I can try it with both fresh and salt water pearls without damage ? or r u referring to only one of those 2 types ? I Only know "fresh water pearls" are very much the same size n shape " and the salt water ones are not so consistently sized and shaped would you agree ? Any help is appreciated

Both are testable. You can tell if the pearl is fresh or salt water by looking at the shape. Fresh water ones are irregular while slit ones thongs to be asymmetrical.

Remember I am claiming it is not a real pearl ( to be safe and not disappoint ) I too am curious thou I Looked at it , tempted to scratch it against my teeth as was suggested BUT I Couldn't for fear I may accidently apply too much pressure and cause the " unknown " to accidently get loosened from the base which it sits in now that it's already listed Had I known I could try this action BEFORE I Listed it I would have tried that BUT To try it now that it no longer belongs to me it belongs to someone on Listia I can't risk damaging it in any way , ---------------------------- I Do wish you luck -------- if you win I do hope it turns out to be the real thing --- --- If it isn't are you going to be ok with that ?
