Description

The listing, Vintage Fenton Double Crimped red/orange/yellow basket. Mint! has ended.

Vintage Fenton Double Crimped red/orange/yellow basket is in mint condition. There are cracks chips or damage that I could see or feel. The basket is red on the top then orange and finally yellow at the bottom. It has it's maker's mark in the basket handle, but I can't make it out. I can feel it, but the makers marks are all so similar that I just can't tell. The basket is not marked on the bottom. This basket is 6" tall and 4 1/2" wide and looks a lot better in person, since the orange in the middle looks more red in these pictures.

If it is not marked Fenton, how do you know it is actually is Fenton. I have several pieces and all of mine us marked on the bottom. I love this piece and it does look like a Fenton piece. Some of the older pieces were not marked. Hope you can help before I start bidding. Thanks, a great auction!

It looks like one from the price catalog and they used the artist's marks for the little baskets.

Not a problem. I can't 100% say it's a Fenton, but it looks like one and I can't change since there are bids and besides it's really a nice looking basket. I was able to get another picture that shows the color a bit better.

When they aren't signed, but so obviously look like a certain designer or manufacturer, I say go with your gut. I'm impressed you noticed the artists marks. I'm getting better at seeing the small details. It takes practice! Lol. Details like artists marks are always consistent. They are their own kind of signature. The basket is really nice. Everything I've come across similar lately has been chipped or had several flea bites. This would be a fabulous gift for my best friend. I'll be here till the very end. F & W. Will you fan back please?

If this is a piece of Fenton, the mark is on the bottom inside an oval it says Fenton. Only very few are pre Fenton marked that you will find now that Fenton has closed their doors this item on eBay would fetch a very pretty price! I have bought Fenton all my life for I grew up next to the Factory in Williamstown. Now they sold that plant and all they are making now are the beads for a euro bracelet and the beads are not cheap either! Boy if this was on eBay I would gave you 100 easily. Happy Auction for this beauty!!! No not all Fenton has marks hidden in any handles they have had only ONE makers mark and it was as I said...I should know since I was there almost every weekend. The mark came around in the 1960s but right this second I forget the exact date...sorry!

I never have any luck on E-Bay, but you're probably right I could get some good money for it. As for the makers mark I can feel something on the bottom of the handle, but I can't make it out.

You can still find artists books from Fentons Artists and the years of the book shows what is out or coming out soon that year. So grab a Fenton Catalogue that has pre mark items in it and you should find that basket then. Good luck ya'll!

Does this basket have a watery effect to it or is that from your camera?
Feb 16th, 2015 at 10:16:00 AM PST by

Yes it has what you call a watery effect. You can see it best on the bottom yellow part.
