Description

The listing, Commemorative Coin Package; Canada; 2 dollar (Toonie); 1996;  + BONUS has ended.

Thank you for browsing.

On February 16, 1996 an era ended in Canada when production of the two dollar bank note ceased; but a new era began only 3 days later, on February 19th, with the introduction of Canada’s newest circulation piece - the two dollar coin; affectionately known to Canadians as the “Toonie”, eh(?).

The winner of this auction will receive one (1) brand new (sealed in original Mint packaging) Canadian 1996 - the first year of issue - two dollar (toonie) coin commemorative package with uncirculated coin.  The obverse features (surprise, surprise) Queen Elizabeth II (yawn) and the reverse, the iconically Canadian polar bear.  The reverse was designed by artist Brent Townsend from Campbellford, Ontario - that’s less than 250 km from where I live...Ontario, represent! ;-)

This bi-metallic coin has an aluminum-bronze centre and nickel outer ring; diameter: 28.0 mm; weight: 7.3 grams and the mintage was 375,000,000.

PLEASE NOTE – This commemorative coin is still sealed in its original RCM packaging and you will receive the exact coin show in the photos.

BONUS - As an added bonus - because there’s nothing better than twice as much (of anything) - the winner of this auction will also receive one (1) Canadian two dollar banknote (dated 1986, the last dated issue) in uncirculated condition.  And, as a extra added bonus, the banknote will come, as shown in the photos, in a bill holder.

Gee....DEAD? I was just hoping you were going to outbid him....or maybe even rough him up a little. But if he's DEAD, I'm down a customer. ;-)

I thought that meant you were confident in your trash talk about C3PO13 and that I could repeat it with confidence.

According to my research - it's from "Hitch". I like the power, though, can you make him do any tricks?

"Trouble maka"? I like to think of myself more as a trouble enabler. ;-)

But isn't "Nottinghill" that movie with Hugh (I'd rather hang myself than watch him try to ape his way through a movie) Grant?

Personally I say "Serendipity"...at least Cusack can act. :-)

You know me - I like to tease. And since I like rubbing salt in the wound, this is the last set of these I have left.

True I'm salting the wound a little but, wouldn't your rather know up front than lose out and find out, after the fact, that I didn't have any more? ;-)

No, I appreciate knowing. I wouldn't have it any other way. I want to bid, but my top priority is that silver volunteers coin.

Yes, the dime is a very sweet coin and, if you consider the low mintage on it, is (in my most humble opinion) a keeper with some nice long term upside.

Thank you for browsing and your kind hoser speak. :-)

You have my admiration - after all the trash talk Sugmoff's been speaking about you lately - I think it's great that you'd still hold off on an auction, for his sake. Especially after he called you a girlie girl and was saying he could beat you at anything - including Listia auctions. ;-)

Great band - "I'm an Adult Now"....but not something I think is any more attainable (sans the health care) here, over there.

Give me a little more time....I'll have the safety factor at the top of your list. ;-)

The only thing that comes to mind is that cheesy quote from Notting Hill. If that isn't it, I should still get part credit just for ever sitting through that awful movie.
