This beautiful silk and cotton purse was purchased in Burma from a family belonging to the Hmong people. This particular tribe lives on a hillside and makes these purses entirely by hand, starting with the fabrics, which they dye and weave themselves. Purses are then hand embroidered and stitched together with rudimentary sewing equipment. This purse is light weight and a great conversation piece. It is not made to carry heavy loads, so don't try to use it as a book bag. It's perfect for an evening out, or any day you want to look pretty....I have loaded mine up with a kindle, ipod, comb, wallet, phone, and lip gloss and it's just fine. The wooden beads are also carved by hand. A lot of time and care went into the making of this purse, and I hope whomever wins it will love it :) The silk is a lovely darker shade of green and the cotton is black. This purse is not machine washable, I would consult with a dry cleaner if necessary. The purse has never been used and has been carefully stored in a smoke free environment. I do have dogs, but are not allowed in the room these are kept in. I can't promise a dog hair won't sneak in, but I'll do my best to be sure it doesn't happen.
