The listing, cameo necklace has ended.

this is a cameo necklace i bought in 1976 at a flea market , i know nothing about it , but was told that it was from the 30, s it does have a little plate on the back that says 1/20 10K goldfilled C.T. dont really know what that means but it is very pretty the chain i do not think is the one that came with it , but dont know for sure , it has bars on the back that are like a Y and the cameo is a peachy color with what looks like bone or ivory , face of a girl , thanks for looking and if i can answer any more questions let me know ,

Could you possibly put up a photo showing a closeup of the chains clasp, does it would properly, also does the clasp have a marking on it, like.... 10,12 or 14 karat gold? I really can't tell by the photos if the Cameo itself is Shell, Plastic or somelse, would you happen to know for sure? Thank You and Good Luck! :-) F&W

the chain is 16in long but i do not believe it is the one that came on it , it is not a new one but i dont think that its as old as the cameo, it is the same color but the clasp on the end looks cheap to me , so i,m guessing that it was replaced at some point . it was already on it when i got it in 1976,

That is not ivory it is a carving unless it is not hand carved. I know as late as 1996 they still sold carved cameos and I have a ring that is rare for it was carved by a left handed artisan. I know this for I spent many years in the industry and being a retired jeweler, I know a lot. A left handed carver the cameo will face to the left side. This is a rare fact because there seems to be more right handed carvers back in the day. So this is a beautiful piece that you have there and oh who cares about the necklace part, you can tell it doesn't go with that design or age either. You have a gem and oh how I wish I could win this one but nope...let some other lucky Listian win it for sure they will love it as much as you have loved it since you got it in 1976 which was by the way the year I graduated High School LoL! Have a wonderful auction~! Ok C. T. does not mean carat total!!! That is the makers initials nothing to do with being the amount of carats of the stone nor is it anything to do with the 10, 12 ,14, or18 ktw...weight of the amount of gold in it.

in 1976 i was 19years old had just lost my mother in aug of 6 and got married in sept of 76 , my husband and i both loved flea markets and garage sale , we had no children both worked and spent out free time buying old stuff lots and lots of it , and we still had all of it until just this past year when we have decided to get rid of it all and down size to something lots smaller , so all this stuff has to go ,loll

I am so glad you finally know more about that piece! I almost told you yesterday that I thought that was the original chain for the age of it too. Sorry was wrong about it being ivory. I am very surprised on that since it was costume I figured it would be a carved set instead of ivory on it. I am in awe of that now! I have always came in here just to see it...great auction and go for the gold my dear~!

I love auctions and flea markets and estate sales but no longer can I go since I cannot drive now...you have a stroke they take your life away! Even tho all effects I have is I now stutter and forget words..if I do not make sense that is why I am getting tired and mess up so I need to rest. Be back tomorrow to check on this one!

I have no children but I did raise my step son from age 4 and he says I am his only mom God bless him!!! I was 17 until August 28th I turned 18 after I graduated. I lost my dad when I was 15. My mom died in 2006 age 73 from contamination in a hospital she contracted MRSA and was dead before I could get down there I was only 5 hours away, we had to bury her on Christmas Eve. My dad also died in December the 7th but I was just 15 then. I turned 18 left home came back in a year and joined the air force my son has been in the air force now since 2001~

From the pictures, I believe this is a carved shell cameo. It would be unusual to see something this Victorian in design 14 kt. gold filled from that time period in plastic or resin. Very nice piece.
