The listing, Heirloom Purple Tomatillo Seeds has ended.
DESCRIPTION: This unusual deep purple tomatillo makes a fantastic salsa and is sweeter than its tart green cousin when fully ripe. Great in soups and sauces too! The fruit will turn purple faster when exposed to sunlight, but can be eaten while still immature and green for a traditional, tangy tomatillo taste. These tasty summer treats are even more mineral-dense than tomatoes, packed with unique phytochemicals, antioxidants and flavonoids. Leave in husks for long-term storage or remove the husks completely and allow the skin to become uniformly purple! 30 seeds. 70 days to maturity.

INDOOR SEEDING/TRANSPLANTING:
Tomatillos are easy to grow. Start indoors as you would tomatoes. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last spring frost. Keep moist and under good quality light. Place containers in a south facing window or under grow lights until seedlings emerge.
HARVEST:
Fruit is ripe when the light brown papery husk has burst to reveal the plump berry. Ripe fruit will soon fall to the ground.
STORAGE:
Can be stored for month at room temperature with husks or frozen whole (husked removed). Store only sound fruit, at 50-60°F.
