Description

The listing, Chocolate Mint Starts!!!! Well rooted has ended.

My chocolate mint is coming back up with a vengenance! It survived an abnormally cold TX winter (I saw lows down to TWO DEGREES!!!!!!). It is coming up and I can once again share this fun plant!

What you will receive: 2 to 4 small looking plants with roots. Might look pale due to barely coming out from under mulch.

What to expect...... Within a few short weeks of planting, these starts should be thriving, and you can even harvest a small amount. I LOVE this mint slightly bruised, dropped into a cup with a sprinkle of sugar/honey and then coffee added (I normally drink my coffee black). This yields a cup of coffee tasting a lot like a Thin Mint type cookie........... Decadent. <G>

I normally ship about Tuesday. That means, that upon winning, the winner will need to get me there address NO LATER than mid day Monday for me to get the mint ready to send off on Tuesday. If you don't get the your Listia Verified address by Monday , I might not get this off until the following Tuesday! This is just a fair warning. There is always a remote possibility that I'll be in town (12 miles) later during the week, but, I do not guarantee that!

I will NOT dig these starts up until I am ready to package them. I will be shipping freshly dug starts, wrapped in a damp paper towel, in a plastic bag. Starts could arrive looking sad, but plant and water. The roots are tough.

Pictures was taken Spring of 2014 of mint coming up after wintering our brutal winter! They are coming up much nicer this spring. This plant is TOUGH!

Please Note....... I have indicated that I ship to LISTIA VERIFIED address's. For those who are not familiar......, Listia does NOT automatically send this address. It is **YOUR** responsibility to make sure you have a Listia verified address and then **YOU MUST** click on the address you want the mint sent to. Please, do not expect me to ship to any address other than a verified address. If you don't know how to verify, ASK!

Never seen them climb, but if the long stem isgot a section stuck in the ground and kept damp, it will make new roots. I know most folks will not do this step, but dig a deep hole and mix cow manure with dirt before planting to have a great bed for the plants. My dad taught me that with doin all of his gardening

All of our beds here are raised beds filled with organic material such as waste hay, leaves, GOAT manure wood chips etc. Unless you have access to cow manure, you have to buy it and that is from feed lots (steroids, antibiotics and so forth). Yes..... The way of spreading you are referring to is called layering. Mint does so very easily. Same principle *might* be used on a rough vertical surface.

Not that I have seen. I usually see my mints grow to about 6-10" tall and that is about it........ HOWEVER........ With that being said......... You could possibly get a lattice type thing or something and try it. The mint might send out roots into it and continue on upward......... Could be worth a try.
