The listing, Giant Pumpkin seeds - Organic has ended.
Will send you 10 seeds from my best picked pumpkin.
In the second photo, the two big pumpkins came from these seeds and the other is one of my "normal" sugar pumpkins. (also listed for auction). This giant pumpkin plant needs lots of water and room to grow. The one pictured grew so wildly it spilled over into a neighbor's yard. Great "wow" factor when you show it to kids and we supplied pumpkins friends for Halloween and are planning on sharing pumpkin roll and quarts of frozen pumpkin with family for Christmas Eve. Yum! Ask and I'll share the recipe. Makes great toasted pumpkin seeds, too. Extra Yum! Worth growing just for those.
Questions & Comments
I leaned from videos, and other sources, that if you take all the pumpkins off the vine, except the best one. The pumpkin plant will put all it`s energy into that one pumpkin, creating giant pumpkins that can weigh close to 1000 pounds. Are these the type of pumpkin plants that can do that ?
I got the seeds for these from a neighbor who has been growing them for years. She couldn't tell me/ didn't remember where she originally got them. I know of a website, bigpumpkins.com where they show the prize winning giant pumpkins If you want seeds that might get a pumpkin that big you can buy them from the people who breed/select them to get as big as possible. I'm just growing them for food. It's true of these pumpkins that if you reduce the number on each plant the remaining ones will generally grow bigger and I think that's a common thing for pumpkins. Don't know if it's always true or not. Hope that is helpful.
