the listing says in the title: copper and in the body of the description it also lists the shade as copper, so no it is not black.

wait...ok... wait..read deescription it describes this item as "self-sharpening", so you never need a pencil sharpener for a "retractable" (twist up) "self-sharpening" (no sharpener) needed item.
