No, just fits in guitar hole, it has a lip with sponge rubber to hold it in place!

Does this pickup work well without cutting out if you bend the cable ? Not demoting your pickup, just asking because I have one of these. And mine cuts out on me sometimes when I'm using it.I think it may have developed a break in the cable somewhere.Just need to Know this one works ok before I bid .Thanks

This pickup is like new, I used it in a 12 string for 1 1/2 years in church during morning service, so its been used 80 hours.
