Description

The listing, 1941 Mercury DIme has ended.

This 1941 coin is somewhat worn.....The back looks better than the front. I never clean my coins. I'm not a grader just have a few coins to trade....

Winged Liberty Head ("Mercury") (1916–1945)

Although most commonly referred to as the "Mercury" dime, the coin does not depict the Roman messenger god. The obverse figure is a depiction of the mythological goddess Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of liberty and freedom, with its wings intended to symbolize freedom of thought. Designed by noted sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, the Winged Liberty Head dime is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful U.S. coin designs ever produced.[14] The composition (90 percent silver, 10 percent copper) and diameter (17.9 millimeters) of the "Mercury" dime was unchanged from the Barber dime.

The reverse design, a fasces juxtaposed with an olive branch, was intended to symbolize America's readiness for war, combined with its desire for peace. The fasces symbol was later officially adopted by Benito Mussolini and his National Fascist Party, though this was the fourth party with a name invoking the fasces(in Italian:fascio) to which Mussolini had belonged. The symbol was also common in American iconography[examples needed] and has generally avoided any stigma associated with its usage in wartime Italy.[14]

The norm is free shipping on small items but trust me, I understand Not being able to pay the shipping for everyone. I can also send a cardboard sleeve that you can staple around it and protect it yet still send it via $.44 mail :P Also most coin collectors can get this for 2.80 at their local coin store so it is hard to pay just $1 less and fork over points :P I still think it's a great auction though!

I suppose that's a thought. I package and protect the coin from further abuse. So it's padded.

Boy. Someone was right about getting a lot a grief over shipping. I like paypal for the ease of printing postage. I usually package my coins so they are protected. I would feel bad if a coin got mangled in the auto machine the Post Office uses. Maybe its being overly concerned yet I feel more comfortable doing this for the receiver. Is it really that much of an for most everyone?? I am new to Listia, so am unaware of the norm.

Shipping is around 1.75 to everywhere in the States, this includes tracking information. I use PayPal and have found it very easy to click on your link to pay and print the labels for the items I send out. Since I am am on eBay a lot and very busy this helps me immensely.

Thanks for listing this. Would you consider free shipping for the right amount of credits? If so, how much, at least?

Yeah, this is the second time I got that info. I was selling larger coins on eBay and packaging them fairly well. I see no one else tends to and these are the first dimes I've listed. I'll do others in lots. I suppose its excess tender loving care for a not so valuable item. Maybe I'll make it worthwhile and throw in a nice surprise for the winner....

With the melt price of these coins being right at $3 each, I'd like to know where the coin shop is where I can get these for $2.80 ea., I'll buy a hundred at that price !!!???
Zeldyz, it's your auction, run it like you want to !!!
If people don't like your terms, they can go on to the next one.

I've found alot of nere-do-wells on here that gripe and moan about shipping, or ask to lower the days and run the price down so they can bid on it and get it cheaper !!! That is if they bid at all !!!
Or they want you to send it in a plain envelope so they can claim it got lost and dispute the auction for their credits back!
They are getting a free coin, and then griping about $1.75 to send it !!!
Nice coin, by the way !!! LOL
