Vitex, also known as the Chaste tree is a deciduous small tree that can be pruned into tall hedge. They have great displays of blooms from Summer thru Fall, and do well at providing pollen for honeybees. They will reach 20 feet if left unpruned. They are also somewhat drought tolerant, and they are a bit cold hardy, but should not be planted outside north of zone 5b. I am in Texas ,and I never water after the first year, as they have extensive roots that will get them all they need during a rainfall.
Plant seeds , after an overnight soaking, no deeper than 1/4" deep and water in. Once sprouted, thin if you want individual trees, or you can just let them make a thick hedge.
