It isn't. I've used other decorative jewelry wire, hardware wire, and even bread wrapper wire, on mine - this one was my mom's and she never used it, but lost the package of wire - its that small.

not really. you can use any strong string, wire, or even bread ties to hold the ribbon pieces together
