I have a seagate hard drive sata 80 gb 7200 rpm and 4 512mb card total of 2 gb they were takin out of my system all in working condition a week ago sold as is im not going to reformat or anything happy bidding . each computer needs their own drivers depending on what kind of hardware was installed on your computer. Hard drives don't come with drivers , you have to install them from the disk that came with your computer or the hardware if you purchased it separately such as a new cd rom or audio card.

99% of the time you dont need drivers for hard drive controllers unless u have a third party raid card.

i dont think you can use a SATA hard drive in and IDE computer

The cable connecting an ATA hard drive uses a ribbon cable with 40 wires (looks a bit like a licorice strap) as opposed to a SATA cable which only has 7 wires.

Ok, If you replace your primary hard drive or your only hard drive you have to reinstall your operating system. If its a secondary hard drive(data only) then you need nothing. If the sys is raided you wont be able to do it yourself as a beginner. As for ide and sata. It depends on your Motherboard. Unless your computer is very old, its quite possible you have both. You should be able to google your computer model and find out.
