There is no charge to use the box itself. There may be a charge for usage of the apps. Example, Netflix charges 8.99 month, so if you wanted to watch Netflix you would have to pay them. If you currently have a Netflix account, it IS transferable to this item.

Yes, it's working, and I'm not sure if it gets international channels. If you mean will it get netflix for canada or similar, then yes. It goes per your international settings. It has a lot of channel apps, but we only used netflix, hulu and pandora on it.
