Opalite is not a real "stone". It is manmade. Moonstone is a natural stone. This looks like a moonstone to me. I have had several pieces of both types of jewelry and the moonstone has a more bluish glow to it when against a solid dark background that the opalite. Opalite, at least the pieces I have had are always more irridescent with rainbow colors quite prominent. It is a lovely piece by the way, Opals being my birthstone, I love all opal "like" stones.

Opalite is a trade name for synthetic opalised glass and various opal simulants.[1][2] It is also used to promote impure varieties of variously colored common opal.[1] Moonstone is more opaque and made from different minerals.

Opalite, also known as Purple Opal, Opalized Fluorite, Ice Cream Opal and Tiffany Stone, is a soft and subtle yet dynamic iridescent man-made glass resin composed primarily of the mineral dolomite fused with metal to produce an opalescent appearance. Typically clear or milky in color.
