The listing, 201 year old news paper The Columbian Centinel - dated February 12, 1814- Free Shipping! has ended.
Step back in time more than two centuries by reading this 1814 edition of The Columbian Centinel from Boston. This is the entire newspaper not just clippings. It is 4 pages long on one complete sheet folded in half to measure 20" by 15". It has 4 columns of tiny print. This was the typical style of the very early 19th century.
Newspapers printed after 1799 and prior to 1860 are considered "Antebellum Papers" and were printed on naturally acid free "rag linen" paper so they held up much better than our newspapers of today. There are no illustrations but that is also typical of Antebellum papers since illustrations didn't become popular until several decades after this paper was printed.
This one is only slightly darkened. It has greyed more than yellowed. The photos depict accurate coloring. It has been folded. It has been stored out of sunlight. There are no missing pieces and all editorial is present. The edges are not perfect but still in good condition for its age.
There are political articles and even some the Washington and Adams administrations (yes that is George Washington and John Adams - the 1st and 2nd presidents respectively). There are also classified ads, advertisements with prices, and articles. They packed so many interesting items in this newspaper I couldn't possible mention them all.
