The listing, (MY LAST AUCTION) "VINTAGE" 1950's STERLING SILVER AND HAND CARVED JADE MAYAN MASK EARRINGS has ended.
This will be my last Listia auction because of the money I have lost from some of my recent Listia auctions. The bidding has just not been good enough on items I have had alot invested in and so I have decided to go back to Ebay to list my future auctions. I will miss all of my Listia fans and will leave with a perfect record of taking care of my Listia Buyers. I will be running this auction for the full 21 days so ALL of my Listia Fans get a fair shot on what will be my last auction!
MEXICAN SILVER:: This is the name given to the silver used by many Mexican and American Indian Craftsmen. Its silver content is generally above 93%!
Up for auction are this beautiful Vintage pair of earrings from Mexico. These are the classic screw back style so they are comfortable and adjustable for every size and shape of ear! These are perfect for anyone with or without pierced ears! They are in Excellent Vintage Condition! They are Sterling Silver and set with Green Jade that are hand carved in the images of Mayan masks. They measure 3/4" by 5/8". They are screw back style. They weigh about 7 grams together. They will come with silver earring box shown. Good Luck To All And Enjoy My Last Listia Auction!
Questions & Comments
It's funny, bidding is low on many really good items, and high on things that are from the dollar store! I'm always amazed on people bidding on recipes that others just copied from the internet for free! Just doesn't make sense to me. But eBay is no better, in my opinion. Good luck and maybe come back once in a while? I have enjoyed looking at your items, and I'll be watching this one. :)
I completely agree with you. It's crazy to see the credits that auctions bring when they have little to no money invested in their items. I think the thing that gets me the most is people who have no Listia fan base to speak of offering big ticket electronics (for example) and a record already for scamming people, and they are taking the credits and running with them...I just don't get it, how can you take advantage of people and just think it's ok? Then you have the TRUE - REAL Listians like the rest of us who offer very nice items that are worth having, that carry real value for collecting and keeping and they recieve low ball bids and we end up losing alot of money, and we still offer Free Shipping to boot. Thank you for your being my fan and I do appreciate everything All of my Listia fans have said to me since i put this auction up.
Sorry to see anyone leave the site but I am doing the same. Much has deteriorated here since I first started a couple of years ago. Will you give us your name on e-bay so we can follow you there? Best of Luck!
Thank you for your kind words. After all of the out pouring of support from all of my fans both on Listia, Facebook, and thru the many emails I have recieved I have decided to stay on Listia and continue to list auctions for my fans. Thanks to all of you for your support.
Come back and give it another go- in Tandem with ebay? Things go up and down on both sites..... hate to see you go for good, do at least 1 auction a year to keep your feedbacks!
I felt like you i had stuff go so cheap and lost alot of money i always offer freeshipping like you since i started and i still lost money like the other person said people bidding high recipes you get off the internet for free and we put out items that are worth money and making hardy nothing not even to cover shipping cost and then you get people that come on here bid and win then they say they didnt get it knowing they did and you having proof and they get there coins back you lose the item the shipping cost and coins thats been happing to me and i gave listia the recipt with there address and the day they got it and i still lose everything im glad your staying you always have nice things but im only giving listia one more chance if they take the coins away again and i have proof with the recipt im leaving because im losing alot of money because of people doing that then you see there account closed then we have the great listia that are very nice always comeback to you and bid and win always give great postives. princessfashionjewelry your right alot money.
So Glad you've decided to stay...I think listia is always slow between Feburary and April...But it should be picking back soon...So hold on to your good stuff for a little while longer...All Best of Luck to you..
These really are beautiful!! I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience on here. I have had a few myself. I try to be very cautious with who / what I bid on. I've never lost credits but it does stink having them in "limbo" while your waiting for the outcome of a dispute etc... Id love to be able to win these!! F&W&B ☺️
I am sorry you have had such a tough time on here and we will be sad to see you go! I try to put a good minimum bid on costly items and that has helped me a great deal. Always be sure to see people's feedback rating and if you take a chance realize you can lose. In general, I have been pleased with the fine Sellers and Buyers on the site. You should get credits refunded if you wina dispute, but what if they have already spent them? I have wondered if there was any way to turn credits back into cash from things we sell. Best wishes!
Thank you for your kind words. After all of the out pouring of support from all of my fans both on Listia, Facebook, and thru the many emails I have recieved I have decided to stay on Listia and continue to list auctions for my fans. Thanks to all of you for your support.
I have the theory, to just leave all my options open. I have done E-Bay since 2004 and on here for 4 years and have found some items sell better at one place and not the other and the other<>. Etsey seems to do the best with selling older & high end marked jewelry than E or here. ( ^◡^)っ **Just wild for these earrings and I wear both kinds, but I'm an earring hoarder ! ! Right, wear them once or twice, pack them away with the 2000+ others in the closet.
Greetings robert. i just got the bike patches from you. excellent lot. one thing you got to keep in mind.... please do not offer high end items on a regular auction. the way i make sure to not lose value on my prized items is i start at a "price" where i am ok with letting the item go.!! takes 3-5 times on average to list things before the person looking for them will grab them. of course everyone wants everything for a penny... but that is not the real world. i personally get rid of nick knacks with a nice item here and there....and trying to score items i can sell anywhere else... listia is excellent micro market... recycle all the things you might throw in the garbage!!! and someone will put it to use!! thats the best thing about lsitia... fyi
They attempt to scam in many ways but listia is really good at stepping in. If the item goes for more than 5000 or 10000 credits I get tracking. I prefer to ship media items like paper stuff, stickers, books because media mail is low-cost. Luckily I have tons of postage stamps I've collected over the past 20 years so if it weighs less that 13 ounces, I stamp it. I sell on eBay & amazon & if it doesn't sell I post here or I skip those 2 & just post here. As a buyer I'm very picky with what I bid on. I never bid on international items or items with an unbelievably low starting bid. I have given a few sellers benefit of the doubt although they have bad track record but I've learned my lesson doing that too. Btw there's a site called offerup.com I live in a big city so it's busy but I'm not sure how well smaller towns do on there, thought I'd mention anyway. Have a great weekend all.
They try to scam, but Listia has tried to cover most of the problems. Small, low credit items are the easist to scam, by saying they didn't get the item?? Really? But why lose money/credits if a $5.00 item, goes for 700 credits & first class parcel costs you $2.68, then you are already behind the eight ball. So adding tracking can add up to another $1.00 more. Which at this point most of us don't do the tracking, trying not to lose more. The scammer says they didn't get it & wants a refund. There it is, Sad. I will say most people are honest.
So happy you are staying on, we need our good listians! Too many scammers! I had one person tell me my item would take up to a month to arrive because their mail man was lazy! Then called me nasty and blocked me because I said that didn't sound right! Beautiful earrings f&w
I know all about loosing money, not only because of the bids, but the shipping money. I try to ask the very minimum in shipping but still no one will bed unless the items are free shipping! And that is really a shame!!
@Robert687~I completely understand and have "moved on", for the most part, as well. One of my pet peeves...all the Chinese imports on here now that charge shipping. You can get the stuff on eBay with no shipping. Riddiculous! @cardinal~Good advice, for me as well. Guess I'd better get a few things together to list here. I may have a few vintage items for a couple of my fans to bid on, as well as some darling baby girl clothing (very gently used and nearly new) from my nearly 2 y.o. granddaughter, Emmie. :)
I understand completely. I have sold EXPENSIVE jewelry that went low & not so expensive that went high. Now , I don't list my high priced as diamonds are not cheap nor certain gems and like now I have someone saying she did not get her item. Funny that everyone else did but her. I am honest & expect the same. I even tell them if they don't like it just return it & I will refund them. I will look for you on ebay as I like them also.
people bid and never pay, or contact the seller back as well as a lot of minors using this site, it just gets worse, it cost monr ey to ship items, then the seller has to pay paypl fees, the packaging materials , envelopes etc as well as the cost of gas to get to the post office!
So sorry to see you go. I also sell on eBay, but it has also had it's issues. Would love to follow you there if you could give me your user name (PM me if you want). Thanks
Hi Robert, It is challenging at times to get rid of collections that once had some value and if you purchase an item and have to auction it off here and pay for shipping at times we end up paying someone to take our things. Kind of crazy, but indeed it does have a wonderful group of people doing their best to share, and at times it all evens out. I am perplexed at what the bids are for some things, but we all need to remember that the younger folks have different values, and the older ones unless have a business collects very little now. This site keeps me busy for the winter which I am grateful for. I doubt I could find a way to make a living here but the friendship means more to me now anyway. I am glad you decided to stay. Blessings on your journey where ever you are. Love these they are fabulous. Wish I had these years ago!
Saw these, read the situation and immediately became a fan!!!!!! In the 2 years I have been on listia, I have sunk more money into the Government for postage than I care to count, have made some wonderful friends and wanted to slap the stupid out of others!
I have agates, crystals, and fine jewels mostly and the agates, crystals , geodes, rocks fossils and others I do NOT purchase....I go out and find them digging, pounding, until our hands were bloody.. Before I got ill I'd go with a group to Brazil, Madagascar, Uruguay, The Rain Forest, Australia, you name it, and we hunted and worked at getting those specimens, then flying hundreds of pounds home. When we get them here we cab, cut, shape, polish and color some of them. Our equipment (we all own our own) is not cheap. My saw needs to have diamond teeth to cut through those rocks! It amazes me how credits are less than a penny on the dollar, and someone offers you a GIN of 1000 and acting like it's a million dollars! I take my many showcase gems to shows once a year and come out in 3 days with more money than I need to live for a year!
Glad your foolish enough to hang out with us other fools who just wanna make people smile... Thanks.
I'm bidding on these before the 8 days are up. They're beautiful! I will have more credits by Friday. Good luck on this great auction. I also buy a lot on ebay!!
I hear ya on not getting what is invested on items listed which is why I do not list much anymore. i am really picky on things I do list here as well. It is hard to stay away from here. lol Good luck here and elsewhere and I am watching these nice earrings!
Thank you for your kind words. After all of the out pouring of support from all of my fans both on Listia, Facebook, and thru the many emails I have recieved I have decided to stay on Listia and continue to list auctions for my fans. Thanks to all of you for your support.
Sorry to see you so down. I considered quitting also, but have decided to do both! I list on ebay, and if it doesn't sell, I list it on Listia. Likewise, I let ebay sales pay for my shipping on Listia! Also, I have started listing things at the price I want. I never start my costume jewelry lower than 5000. Nice stuff, even higher. If people want it, they'll buy, if not, oh well. Hang in there....
I am sad to hear that you're leaving. I had left for 8 months as well. And still Listia hasn't change all. Bids has been low on Awesome items like yours. This is unique and very amazing pieces. I am low on my credits right now. But i will be watching this and hope to bid soon on this. Thanks for sharing. I am fanning you as well. Thanks.
