How to grow penstemon from seed, cutting
Direct sow in late fall or cold stratify for eight weeks to enhance gemination. Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Drought tolerant, found on dry slopes and flats in sagebrush, pinyon-juniper, mountain mahogany and ponderosa pine plant communities. Soil pH 6.6-8.5. Hardiness zones 4-8.
