Ok here's the scoop on the"running rodent",it DOES NOT require batteries. The way it operates is the tail is pulled and it winds something inside the rodent and the toy then scoots across the floor. The tail is on a string and the string winds it up when it's pulled. My chihuahuas would tear it apart before my cats could enjoy it,lol lol lol! They think they're cats and my cats act like dogs.
