A poignant and delicately told story of a dog as a childs much needed best friend. The bittersweet tale of contemporary life in a small southern town. A skinny little mutt saved by a lonely little new girl in town. There never was a town in greater need of a change, or a dog in greater need of a town. A beautiful read. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with this dog. Now a major motion picture from 20th Century Fox. I guess this would be classified as a childs book but this 59+ year old loved it. Very good used condition.

I've not seen the movie but the book is good. I laughed and cried and laughed some more. A really good story.
