This movie is based on a classic Japanese story (see "Chushingura") about the disgrace of a daimyo who must kill himself to retain his honor and what his now-masterless samurai (called ronin) do to avenge his death. Though this version has added Keanu Reeves as a "half-breed" and witches and demons, the movie is solid and says a lot about the centrality of the Japanese code of bushido to the nation.

Keanu Reeves (Matrix series) stars in the action-adventure epic, 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and reclaim their honor. This band of ronin must seek help from Kai (Reeves)—an enslaved half-breed they once rejected—in their ultimate fight for redemption in a savage world of mythic and wondrous terrors. Kai becomes their most deadly weapon and the heroic inspiration for these outnumbered warriors to confront their enemy and seize eternity.

This is a good action movie with some historical accuracy.
This movie stays fairly close to the original, adds in beautiful sets, action and adventure, and ends as it should.

A must-see popcorn or pizza movie!
