Up for auction is a 1989 Fleer Billy Ripken F@CK FACE Near Mint Card. This is one of the most famous cards in baseball history and one that everyone must have in their collection. The story behind this card is a rather fascinating one. Ripken’s teammates decided to prank him by writing an obscenity at the bottom of his bat barrel. The bat was then used by him in the picture taken for the 1989 Fleer set. A limited number of these original cards found their ways into the packs, but were quickly recalled when stunned parents found such vulgar language on cards their children were pulled from packs. Future productions of the card featured a black box in place of the language, making these cards from the original production rare and desirable.
