It is like playing war-when you lay a card out-and the other player(s) lay one out who ever has the highest number wins the cards then at the end whoever has the most cards whens. my grandson is 3- he just likes spongebob and i got him some and the extra set i listed here on clearance.-it is too advanced for him but he listens and repeats numbers when an adult plays with him-so might learn a few numbers this way--but even if it doesn't he loves the cards as they are very colorful and he knows all the characters on the show-so when he plays he says the name of the card-patrick, etc and doesn't pay much attention to the numbers lol! but it sure is fun to watch him laugh and enjoy the cards anyway so much worth the small cost i paid for them :) debbie
