For length you need to measure the inseam. Which is the seam that runs inside the pant leg. (From the crotch area down the leg) for waist, lay flat and measure side to side then double the number. ( If it's 17 inches...the true size is 34) hope this helps

R u sure they weren't in the wrong dept? Cuz mens pants arent sized that way-16 is a women's size-10, 12, 14 16, 18, etc. Mens are sized 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, etc.
