Tips on How to Grow Blue Shrimp Plant
Soak the large seeds overnight and sow 3/4" deep outside after the last frost in your area or start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost, It will germinate in 7-21 days at 70F/21C. Watch out for damping off if you are starting them inside. Transplant to full sun and good soil for taller plants, partial shade for shorter, less floppy plants. It can be grown in pots. A half-hardy perennial that freely reseeds, in all but the warmest parts of North America it should be considered an annual. The leaves on this plant have a nice grayish/white "bloom" that makes them look more waxy. As the plant matures, the bracts (a leaf that acts like a flower petal) around the flower will change from green to purple to bright blue. Blue Shrimp Plant does well with heat but needs water. Harvest seeds before the pods hurl them around and plant in spring. This variety of blue gets 35in/90cm high and wide, taller in full sun. Deadheading will produce more flowers and more branching. It makes a good cut flower. Flowering attributes: One-inch long, purple tubes surrounded by large, almost heart shaped, purple-blue bracts. Leaf attributes: Glaucous, pale green-gray to blue, spoon-shaped foliage. Light: Full sun to light shade. Soil: For best results, plant in humus rich, moist but well-drained soil. Fertilizing: Use a complete organic fertilizer when seedlings appear and monthly applications thereafter. Propagation Methods: Sow seed in spring after danger of frost has passed. Though subtly colored, Cerinthe major ‘Purpurascens’ draws comment wherever it inserts itself.

Aren't they though, I just can't wait to plant mine. I have a spot already picked out and I am going to be starting them indoors in the next week, I hope.

I have never seen the colors you said. I would love to get them for myself and to auction. Can you tell me where you got them or is it a secret? If you don't want to tell me I understand. :-)

lol,no secret. I actually had one given to me, but the rest I had to get on Ebay. The blue I have never found, only seeds. Not sure why. Oh, I did find a shrimp colored one at a florist for $18.99. A little steep for me.

This is the only one I have been able to find seeds for. All of the others I have only been able to find cuttings for and I don't have the space to grow them indoors.

Sorry, can't help you with that. I have never tried to find them in plants. I have tried to find the other colors in seeds and can only find them in cuttings. Also strange.
