Description

The listing, orgainlic hyiancth vine, lablab purpureus has ended.

In the legume family and you can eat the beans inside the pods while they are still green, but are not very good. Need to be cooked to cut down on the toxicity of this plant. Its not that bad it may make your stomach feel upset. They are eaten mainly by south a ericans and Africans as we can grow much tastier beans. I use it as a fast growing vine to cover my west facing porch. They love sun, but prefer to keep their roots cooler. The purple racine of flowers are gorgeous. Once the flowers bloom and the beans form they become deep purple beans that are a great contrast to the deep green of the leaves. That is where the beans get hard and darken. Once hard and crispy perfect to pick for seeds to plant new t year. This will live year round so long as it doesn't freeze. But they come back and grow fast from seed, especially if you have rick soil. And can grow in caliche, but a ground cover will help the plant survive the summer. At a point if the roots aren't covered the plant may dry up so water and keep the roots cool. Enjoy these beauties! About 10 to 15 seeds. Every single seed will sprout, very proflic.
