So, i am just asking because i know nothing about these nooks, does it do anything else besides download books? does it have a light? does it have wifi? is anything broke on this item that i should know about before i bid?

This strictly a eReader does nothing but download books from the Barns & Noble site it connects to wifi to down load books. It does not have a back light so you can't read it in the dark and last but not lest everything works on it you'll probably spend some time on running through the updates since it hasn't been used for a long time
