This is an original vintage 1962 Topps #38 GENE STEPHENS baseball card.

There may be no more thankless a job in MLB history than the task assigned to Gene Stephens for his first 8 seasons: he was the backup to Ted Williams in left field for the Boston Red Sox. He still managed a few hundred plate appearances per season, mainly as a pinch hitter and as a backup to other outfield positions. It was probably only mercy that allowed him to be traded to the Orioles in 1960, around the time that Carl Yastrzemski was called in to take Ted's post in left. He played with the Kansas City Athletics in 1961 and 1962.

Card has very minor vintage wear, but overall still a nice card.
