5 Out of 5 Stars: Read Purdy to learn about cars and to learn how to write about them
Amazon Review By Randy Leffingwell on March 28, 2014
Many contemporary automotive journalists still regard Ken Purdy as one of the country's best writers who specialized in automobiles. In fact, one journalist organizations annually awards a Ken Purdy prize for automotive writing. Purdy was exceptionally observant and detail oriented. But he also was opinionated, subjective, and, let's say, cranky. But that's what makes any author's writing stylish and personal and engaging. And in the case of HIS wonderful world of automobiles, he had the advantage of being there and driving those cars and meeting with, drinking with, hunting and cavorting with, and sharing insights with them about their cars. All of Purdy's books are like insider insights into whomever he's writing about. Because he had the insiders confiding into his ear. Oh, and he really really could turn a phrase.
