That's a good question. The book doesn't say. However, the stamps are all different sizes big and small. The amount of gold is negligible.

Yes. They wouldn't amount to very much measurable weight. A postage stamp is very thin and the gold replicas are like gold wafers the size of a postage stamp. They are not in the same ballpark as a coin, for instance.
