Thanks for the questions. Most of them are sharpened. But about half are serrated like a couple of the carving knives , the steak knives, and one of the boning knives. But all in all they are very sharp

How used are they I know wood ones can wear down after a while

They have been used but they're not worn down. The composite handles are in excellent shape. The wooden ones are slightly discolored from just sitting around after I had gotten another set. The Ginsu set is also in excellent condition. But they all are sharp and ready to use. I hope this answers your question
