The listing, ~~~ !!! PHILDAELPHIA GERMAN BUTTER CAKE !!!~~~ 0 credit start has ended.
I grew up in Phildelphia, Pennsylvania in a section of the city near a section of the city called Germantown~so you can see how much influence German immigrants had in the "city of Brotherly love".
As a child, I particularly remember a German bakery near my home that produced incredible German pastry. There is one German pastry that either you cherish the memories of growing up with in this area or you will have probably never ever heard of it~lol :)...
and that's the German Butter Cake!!!!
It stands on it's own as an amazing culinary achievement in oozing goodness long before the invention of the Lava cakes. In fact, if you don't know what it's supposed to look like, you'll swear you messed up the recipe~but take heart,
it comes out EXACTLY the way it should!!! :)
German Butter Cake has 3 components:
1. The base uses yeast and has a taste like a danish, but then you've got
2. the topping that has a rich, buttery, pudding like consistency with a creme brulee kind of crackle crust top.
You take your magnificent creation out of the oven and to your dismay, the middle might even collapse-it's ok, because that middle houses
3. the sweet, buttery, oozing filling.
So when you cut into it, though the grand gourmet aesthetic appearance leaves a lot to be desired as far as presentation, who cares? ~It's the taste that counts!!!!
Winner will get the recipe mailed with instructions and photos.
