can you tell me what degree of softness this has? Is it next to skin soft? like you could use to make a scarf? or not so much?

It's shetland-type wool. Not merino soft, but not super rough, either. Probably the kind that blooms and softens considerably after washing. I would use it for a cowl or scarf for myself, but then, I like "rustic" wools.
