Description

The listing, Vanilla bean orchid has ended.

Long lived vine that gets purple flowers which become the vanilla pods you purchase in the stores for cooking. Likes a semi dark, moist environment. Mine grows in the bathroom in a 7" pot and is curling all around its trellis. Please see goggle for picture. Pretty vine even when not flowering. Will ship a 4" long live slip of plant.

It does not say no shipping in USA. It states winner pays shipping in USA and no international shipping. It is against the law to ship or receive plants without going through customs.
What king of orchids do you grow? Maybe we could swap some in future. Thanks for looking. I will ship free if over 200 points.

do you grow this inside or outside? I'm in Florida a little north of Orlando and wondered if I can grow this outside or where?

Mine grows outside in the Spring and Summer. It likes the humid South. When it starts to get cooler, I bring it inside where it spends the winter in my bathroom. It does get winter sun from a skylight. I also mist it once in awhile.

The beans take ideal conditions to produce. Usually when the vine is about 3 feet long, and it is kept in a humid condition. When I stated dark I meant not direct sunlight.

Beans take about 10 months to mature. This is why they are so expensive in stores.
