No not for the TV stick itself. You can stream Netflix and Hulu and other platforms as well if you have an existing account you use it to access the content. So if you don't have Amazon Prime then you can watch prime but you can use what services you do subscribe to like Hulu plus, Netflix HBO etc. Hope this helps. Good luck. (•‿•)

You don't want to jailbreak the fire stick cause it gets blocked when amazon does the updates, you want install Kodi which is like android & allows for live tv channels. I cut the cable with this. By the way, I am in the 6 digits with credits and will go all in.

Well I've never had a roku so I don't know how to do a comparison but you can check that online. Maybe type in amazon fire TV stick vs roku
