Scottish gemstones are stunning and renowned the world over.Agate is a banded form of finely-grained, microcrystalline Quartz. The lovely color patterns and banding make this translucent gemstone very unique. Agates can have many distinctive styles and patterns, but each Agate is unique in its own habit, with no two Agates being the same.

The gemstones stones listed by me are hand picked from various locations around Scotland, mainly the North East region.

They are hand cut and polished by myself and uncle to get the best shine, quality and view of any patterning possible.

They are of interest to those of you interested in gems, semi-precious stones, geology and minerals. Agate is a colorful gemstone that is often used in tumbled or cut form in beads, jewelry and craft projects.

They are also of interest to those who make use of gemstones for alternative medicine, spiritual practices and beliefs such as Reiki.

This agate had a good polish with some red and mildly blue-white parts.

In terms of spiritualistic beliefs and practices agates are believed to have a number of qualities. Some are that they enhances creativity and strengthens the intellect, making it a beneficial stone for both students and artists. It is also known as a good luck stone. As a stone of harmony, one of the things agate does is balance yin/yang energy.
