I would say both but it is a blue bird I guess some may only use for boy but I would put this on a girl as well

this one runs kinda small I think it would fit a newborn maybe of 8 lbs and up the diaper cover is adjustable so that fits up to about 6 months or so , but I can try to make it smaller if you need yes

also remember this yarn stretches a bit so it will fit larger baby upto 9 months about 15" head diameter
