Everything works, the battery is decent it lasts for about an hour navigating unplugged without being turned off. So if your hiking with it use it when needed to get your position and turn it off it should last a couple of days. Stand by mode it lasts for about 10 days before full discharge. For Auto use I have never had an issue with battery time. It has bicycle and pedestrian modes too I really haven't used them though.

That Battery figure was with the Backlight at 80% if you turn down the backlight further you will get better results.

Yeah this one can get Lifetime updates $89 or you can download free updates from other sources not just Garmin. YouTube and Google are great resources :)
