You may want to pull this and get it checked. These sell at auction (the real ones) for $30,000 to $300,000. While there are many replicas, the fact that this was passed down from your grandmother makes me willing to take a risk. I wonder how many credits one needs to win a $300,000.00 coin!!!
People are really psychic on here. Every time I turn around someone always say they got or seen the same thing. If you gonna bid then bid ,not criticize auctions.
On a real one, the C of COMPANY almost touches the lettering on the line under the word EXCHANGE. Also the N of OREGON on a real one is higher and does not line up with the third line of lettering as on this coin.
I'm not 100% sure it's real, I've been doing research online, and looked at a ton of pictures. I didn't want to post it as real because I'm not honestly sure lol but if it is....feel free to share the wealth
I hope the winner lets us know how this plays out. I would love to see this as one of the $300,000 coins!! one just sold at auction, was not as fine looking as this one for $245,850.00
First and foremost I hope it's genuine. Having said that none of the clones/copies/counterfeits have the word "copy" as that would defeat the purpose, that being to sell it as real. The auction site I checked with assured me that a coin in this condition would bring anywhere from $90,000 to $300,000 before auction fees. Crazy to get just "credits". The auction site said almost all out there since 1945 are fakes but the only way to tell is to have it appraised by an expert. Wow, a $300,000 coin on Listia, a record!!
At the bottom between the "O" in Oregon and "Y" in company i think I can make out the word "copy". Maybe take a better picture that shows this area more closely??
