Description

The listing, Small but taste desirable pecan tree seedling! has ended.

Pictures coming very soon.

I have been selling the seedlings from
8-16 inches from my mothers house for years in my home town... I have decided to try listia & see how they do here.

The will be mail bare root, wrapped in wet paper towels & roots put into a plastic bag to keep fresh till you get it. I will also wrap it in card board to try & help it from post office bending it! Sometimes the travel is hard on live plants & leaves may fall off. Please do not be alarmed cuz they will grow back. These are very delicious nuts. Great for salad, pecan pies & much more.

As soon as it arrives please put in a glass of water for a day or two incase it arrives in shock from the travels. After a few days you can either plant it in a pot & let it spring back in the shaded place for a week or so. You can either keep it in a pot & move it to a bigger pot every 6 weeks till your ready to move to it's spot in your yard. You can also put it into your yard when it arrives just try to cover it with some shade & water daily for about a week then you can water every other day for 2 or 3 weeks & taper down to 1 or 2 times a week. Do not water leaves in the sun... They will dry up & die. Only water the root. Any questions please ask. I love helping if I can.

More about pecan tree:

Desirable:

I try to only mail out on Monday morning so post office has 6 days to get it to you before it gets stuck in there offices over the weekends. I've never had any problem & I pray I don't start having problems but you really never know how post office hides item and then mysteriously refines them. Lol

I have always heard that in order to actually get pecans that you need a male and a female tree. Now, I now it sounds ridiculous because I have no idea how you would tell a male from a female, do you know anything about that?

Actually I don't know which is male or female. Perhaps someone else would like to comment that knows about it... So we can all learn more. I have always been told that "desirable" pecan is a great tree on it own to produce fruit & some of the other need a second kind to produce more pecans but they all produce on it own... Is what I have always been told. I would love to read comments on people that know more & would love to share with us what they know.

Nice auction. I don't know about nut trees but most fruit trees you need two of so they pollinate each other unless they are a hybrid then they produce on their own.I have never heard of them being referred to as male or female just that you need two of them to pollinate each other.

I've never heard them called male or female either. I was told that all of mines are self fruiting but I do not know that for sure cuz different people say different things. I'm just lucky to have quite a few & that they do very well in making babies for me.

I think in Bastrop... Everyone owns a pea can tree so we take it for granted that they grow big beautiful shade & delicious fruit! I would get brave & plant one.
