The listing, 1 oz Trade Dollar Copper Round (New) has ended.
JM Bullion is pleased to offer the 1 oz Trade Dollar Copper Round, a beautiful coin based on the Seated Liberty obverse of the 1873 US Trade Dollar. Produced as a 1 oz AVP .999 pure copper round, these coins are in brand new condition and ship in either their sealed mint tubes of 20 or in vinyl coin flips.
Designed by William Barber in 1873, the coin depicts a female figure seated on bales of merchandise, holding in her left hand a scroll bearing the word “Liberty.” At her back is a sheaf of wheat which, in conjunction with the bales of merchandise, expresses the commercial character of the coin. She extends her right hand to the left overseas, offering an olive branch to trade counterparts in China. Created as a means for the United States to enter the silver competition with Eastern Asia, the Trade Coin circulated from 1873 until the mint ceased production of proof coins in 1883.
Many customers prefer to buy these rounds in bulk in order to make a substantial investment in fine copper. Others simply like to have them on hand to give as gifts.
