Heavy chunky solid sterling silver setting stamped 925 and makers mark CIO
Cracked Opal
Ring is Size 8
This vintage ring has my favorite setting ever but the opal unfortunately is cracked.
Setting has lots of sterling but I don't have a scale. It would be worth putting a new stone into if you are a jeweler or want to incur the expense of replacing the stone.

half an inch by 3/4 of half an inch so I guess .5" x 6/10" ?

For those who do not know. Opal can easily crack when frozen. It is also a soft stone that is difficult to mount without chipping or cracking. Even with that it is a beautiful stone and my favorite.

Oh, I totally agree. It is one of my favorite stones also, with all the depth and color like a rainbow....sort of like a more solid colored diamond effect. Some stones are just better left for casual wear and not when you're gonna be out operating your tractor and plowing up the farm ;D
(I sometimes forget to take off my better rings when I go out to weed the garden)
