The listing, Authenic Gregg Wolf silver and hematite heart necklace from 1992 has ended.
In 1992 I spotted this striking necklace in the window of Gregg Wolf's jewelry shop on 9th St. on New York City's Lower East Side and coveted it for a good long time before buying it. At the time, Madonna and other fashionable celebrities were seen wearing Wolf's creations (http://www.greggwolf.com/index.html) . I loved it, wore it a couple of times, but its heaviness was overpowering for my style...I worked in an office and hardly went out. It cost me something over $300. I've hung onto it for almost 20 years now; it's time to offer it for auction.
I recently tried to sell it on Ebay but no one bid on it; in the name of good karma I am offering it for free to the great members of Listia!
Although I have no paper documentation of the materials, I believe the 24" heavy-duty, large-link chain with lobster-claw clasp and casing and back of the large (roughly one-and-one-half inch by one-and-one-half inch, with a depth of one-third of an inch), heavy charm to be sterling silver. I was told by the jeweler that the shiny, dark gray polished stone filling the heart-shaped charm casing is hematite. The front of the charm is rounded, the back flat. In the photo the front of the charm looks scratched, but those are just reflections of light.
Please note: This unique piece of jewelry is in excellent condition but needs to be cleaned and polished. There is some tarnish on the chain.
It is signed by the jeweler on the edge of the casing of the charm -- "Wolf 92." I can vouch for its authenticity because I purchased it myself, wore it a couple of times and stored it all these years.
