'm fixin' to tell you about being Southern.... Being Southern doesn't mean I'm not well educated. I may say 'ain't' and 'y'all' and 'honey'. I " bless a lot of hearts ? ". I might even 'piddle' around from time to time. I might refer to my grocery cart as a 'buggie' -- and by golly that's okay! If you're proud to be sweet, sassy, and Southern, go ahead and click like..'right smack dab' on this status ! Then you go over "yonder" to your profile page and paste it to your status. ?
I totally agree with proudmommy!!! NOT appropriate! I would be FUMING! Every single time I get overwhelmed with homeschooling and feel like giving up, God shows me yet another reason why I am doing the right thing and OH SO GLAD my kids aren't in public schools! That teacher crossed the line! It's almost like they do these things to purposefully rob our children of their God-given innocence.
I love the innocence that my kids have. They get teased for it at school sometimes, but there is no need for them to grow up faster than they have too.
Erica, that's what I was thinking... Compromise to a 7 year old is having to share toys with siblings or having to take turns picking out what movie/show to watch on TV or something. I just couldn't believe they sent something like that home for her to read. I didn't have her read it, kept the paper and as soon as I can get ahold of her father, I plan on informing him of this information. I'm also going to try to contact her teacher. They're strange about that here also, contacting the teachers. You have to call during a specific time, the teacher will only talk to someone if it's a certain time {their down time or something, I forget what they call it}, which is frustrating too!!
A 7 yr old shouldn't have knowledge of drugs and be exposed to things like that.... I mean, their poor minds get corrupted enough as it is as they grow older. I don't want my child growing up before she has to!
Erica, I hope you get things settled with that user soon.
@Mama...I agree with Proudmommy....flat out refuse and bring it to the teacher or school board. My 12 year old doesn't even know what "getting high" means.
My high schoolers are just now learning some of that. In order for kids in our area to get a license they have to pass this test. My daughter failed it. It was all about alchol and drugs. She told me after that she had no idea what half the stuff they were talking about. I told her I was actually glad she failed the test.
As far as the crazy address thing, I believe that thing is simply ridiculous! What's wrong with emailing people the address an item needs to be sent to! There are some addresses it really messes up.... Proudmommy's for example. I tried to add her address to my list of addresses because I was going to send something to her and when verified, all it verified was her city, state, and zipcode! I was like, Dude, there's no way it'll get there without a street number and name! Ugh! So, Proudmommy, I have something to send to you, just not sure when it'll actually get to you. I'm a procrastinator so it may take a little while before I get to the post office!
I am sorry I have been away. I will get to matchups soon. Drama at my house and now my daughter is moving across the country in less than a week and we have to get her packed up. I am torn up because of it, but understand why she needs to go. So I am a bit of a basket case right now. Sorry.
@tweety ...happy birthday to you and your hubby...thank you for the match ups..and it is my understand that we are combining cards as an item too this month if we like...cause I have a few fun ones that I wanted to send from my travels :>)
@proudmommy... Bows my head in prayer for the safety of each and everyone there and the coastguard rescuers risking their lives to save these ppl...Praying for everyone safe return from that mission...Amen
@berries... With the top ramen noodle item you can use it to make a poor mans stir fry... in an electric fry pan place the noodles and enough water to soften them up (not enough to make a soup) then add canned veggies or any that you have add a bit more water to steam the veggies, then add the spices from the packaged soup and if needed more water but only enough to get the spices to mix with the noodles and veggies...i hope i explained it enough...
@berries & Trayce I love to eat my ramen noodles plain without the MSG packet, and also like Trayce said with homemade stir fry. SO yummy! But since you have the cup-o-noodle kind I don't think you can take out the flavoring. So I would cook them up and drain them as well as you can, or even rinse them out before eating them with chicken or whatever strikes your fancy. I think there are even some recipes online for things you can make with ramen noodles.
@MamaLuv9-First off I would refuse to let my child do the assignment and take it to the school board and question the teacher and the school to what they are thinking and why they would ok such a thing. That is far from appropriate for a 2nd grader let alone any other elimentary age child. @Tweety I hope all is ok miss ya!!! Well just doing my daily check in...I will try to be on again later, sense winter is already here and im hibernating. Its been ONly high of 50's and rain so it feels like 20 or 30's....I hate cold weather.
Ok, I have a question for everyone... what would you do if your 2nd grader {7 years old} brought home a page that was copied out of a magazine or something and was supposed to read it for homework? That doesn't sound so bad... but the topic was Compromise. Again, that's not so bad either. Then the article goes on to give scenarios that you should "get together with a classmate to come up with solutions to" and states it is instances teenagers experience. Then goes on to say this girl, the article called "Sarah" has friends her mother doesn't approve of because her mom heard rumors that her friends were experimenting with drugs! Then says her mom forbid her from seeing them, so she would sneak out of the house to go hang out with these people!!
First of all, my 7 year old does not know what drugs are! How am I supposed to explain to her when she reads something like that and asks what "experiment with drugs" means?!? Secondly, I don't want her learning about kids sneaking out of the house!! What kind of crap is this to be telling a 2nd grader?!? A 6th grader or someone in middle school, I can understand. But she's just a child for pete's sake! She is not a teenager yet and kids grow up too fast as it is! I want her to stay a child while she is a child!!
I just got back from the flea market. We (my son Mike and I) did really well this trip, but the weather was H-O-T. It got up to 96 degrees with very little wind. I don't remember if I mentioned it but we got a really great find at an auction. We got around 14 boxes for $1 and found a gold pocket watch in one of them. We had other boxes too that cost $1 to $4 and totaled $21. This made our day at the flea market and one of Mike's friends bought the watch for scrap price of $225.
Just checking in, been CRAZY!!! Not sure when I'll be home, may need to do a temporary address change for the swap, because I have no way home, or anyone to check my mail right now. Been fighting the state and county bout my medical benifits and cash benifits being cut, and I'm not getting any where. So Im staying local to their office by staying at my friends. As a late update, My dad and his crew are ok still working hard drilling and the rain keeps comen down, but last I was told there isnt any more flooding or flood warnings. Listia tries saying my addy is PO BOX, and it is NOT a PO BOX address but Listia for some unknown reason thinks it is. Well I think its going to snow soon, been only high of 50 durring the days and at night 20-30's, and I'm not fairing well with this cold weather. I have no coat and ONLY summer clothes here with me.This sudden weather change was unexpected. so flip flops shorts and tube tops...Now I understand Why Im sick. Time to go to the Soup Kitchen and visit the coat closet and see if I can find a coat, and get a voucher for socks and boots. I Hope everyone is doing ok. Sorry Im not on much any more, its hard because my laptop is on its last legs :(
If you need to send me an address change, let me know and I will get it out to your swappers. Also, is your daughter with you too? Is there anything she needs?
wickedlette has some interesting auctions. I guess she doesn't know how to use spellcheck: indians and hores, stuffed wristaler, toy wined up cars, shell neckless, black tee in good condition on tires or ripe, charlie and the chocolate facter game boy avdensed games, cucmber melon body lotion, red shirt in alright condition and a tare but you cant realy notice if you not staring,
Just got home for a "Passion Party"... Yay, ok ppl get your minds outta the gutters... Lol!! It was mostly lotions, bubble baths and stuff like that, and basically a reason for us girls to leave the kids with their dads and have a few drinks. Had a great time, won a few game, was great, but now all this food talk has me Hungry!!
Re: Where we live, i live in a very small town in central cali, closest city is Fresno about 40 miles away. I am surrounded by fields and dirt roads, Luv it!! Super peaceful and just a Groovy place to live.
Personally, I've never heard a "grocery cart" called a buggy... around here, they're simply shopping carts. Or carts. And, we don't have soda/cola/whatever other term you may use.... we have pop. Our lollipops are also called "suckers"... I watched iCarly with the kids one day, and it was funny because Spencer got this package from ups {or some kind of delivery place} and opened it, took the item out and says "a lollipop?" The guy who delivered the package says "yeah, but where I'm from, we call 'em....." And I actually said "SUCKER!!!!" LOL My kids looked at me kinda funny... :)
Hope all is well with everyone! And, check out my coke code auction. Even if you don't need the code. I have some pretty cool pics on there. :)

Ok, I have to seriously thank my swapper. I got three packages in the mail today. The first one was awesome and had two black sharpies in it. I misplace and use up my sharpies like mamaluv loses pens, lol. Second, has some pilot pens that are made from recycled bottles (so very cool!!), stamps, green comp book (i love it!!), yellow notepad, lined paper and large stationary sheets. Third has a three hole punch, scizzors, tape, calculator and a bunch of post it tabs (which are my favorite thing to use when I am marking recipes in my recipe books).
