The listing, Mineral Specimen Lot - Calcite Quartz Druzy Anthraxolite on Dolomite. Bonus HERKIMER Diamond! has ended.
Hello! Today I am offering a multi-mineral specimen lot from the world-famous Ace of Diamonds Herkimer Diamond dig site in Middleville, NY. These specimens have not been sandblasted or cleaned with acids. They have had a gentle scrub with an extra-soft brush and water, and were then put into storage for 19 years.
Specimen #1 contains calcite, quartz druzy, some small flecks of anthraxolite, on dolomite matrix. It is a neat little piece!
As a bonus, I am offering a small C/D grade herkimer, with a small crystal attached.
Some background on the items:
"Herkimer diamonds" are not true diamonds, but a variant of quartz with double-termination (points on both ends as opposed to just one end). There are other similar forms of quartz from places such as Arkansas, Pakistan and China, but "Herks" have gained a following for their exceptional clarity. They are beloved by mineral collectors and metaphysical belief adherents alike.
Some herks might contain "rainbow" patterns caused by internal fractures, inclusions, even ancient air and/or water bubbles (this lot does *not* include one of those, but if interest is expressed, I'll consider listing those items in the future).
I've never tried listing minerals on here before and really don't know how this is going to work out... these kinds of items may become a regular offering on my Listia shop.
