The listing, 1963 Topps #125 ROBIN ROBERTS (Orioles) Hall of Famer! has ended.
This is an original vintage 1963 Topps #125 ROBIN ROBERTS baseball card.
A Hall of Fame pitcher best known for his years with the Philadelphia Phillies, Roberts is seen here with the Baltimore Orioles.
A 286 game winner in his career, Roberts was one of the "Whiz Kids", the young pitching staff who led the Philadelphia Phillies into the 1950 World Series, their first in 35 years. 1950 was the first of 7 consecutive All Star appearances for Roberts, during which time Roberts collected more than half (157) of his career victories. While there was no before 1956, Roberts certainly would have won in both 1952 and 1955, as he collected more MVP votes in both seasons than any other pitcher, including finishing 2nd to Bobby Shantz for the 1952 MVP Award. The orioles acquired him as a free agent in 1962, and he won 42 games for them in 3 1/2 seasons in Baltimore. Over his career, he led the league in strikeouts twice and complete games 5 times, and was ultimately inducted into the Baseball hall of Fame in 1976.
